Geological Strata of Memory

I used this project as a way to reflect on my connection to place. I thought about the environments and places that I have deep connections to. I have always found inspiration in the forces of the natural world and feel that being in wild places has impacted my perspective on life. I decided to look at these places through topographical maps and the exact routes that I have traveled. Picking from locations that hold meaning for me I then built in layers of their topographies. Each location would start with the topographical lines and then grow in high depending on how much meaning and memory that location held for me. The locations became layers of who I am and how they have blended together to influence my life.

In Vermont

This project now lives in a forest in Vermont. Being able to see these pieces interacting with the natural world was very important to me. This was the concluding project that I finished my college education with and wanted to be able to see them interacting with one of the areas that meant a lot to me throughout my college experience.
